Lifestyle Newborn Photographer // Jessica Salort Photography // Gulf Breeze, FL

Lifestyle newborn sessions are the newest coolest thing happening over here! Last year I decided to add them to my list of types of work I do. I have been growing in my skill and talent, and my amazing clients have been expanding their families. It was pretty apparent that I needed to find a way to continue to help them with their photo needs, so I jumped right in.

These lifestyle newborn sessions are quickly becoming a sure favorite. I get the document your little one in your home like a fly on the wall. Sure I will get a few posed photos, but my main focus is capturing these tender moments of your ordinary everyday life. Everyday is magical, you know!

So what to know when considering a newborn lifestyle session.

  1. It's all about simplicity.

No crazy outfits or props. Our primary focus is on showcasing your family's genuine connection, plus all the details of your new little one. I will include unposed photos of you snuggling and getting in all those kisses. Let me emphasize this again; we will be getting in our snuggles. And of course the details matter. I want you to remember it all, especially the little fingers, toes, eyelashes, that cute baby hair.

2. These sessions take place in your home not a fancy studio.

So how can we make your home look like a studio? The simple answer is we can't, and we don't want to either. We want simplicity. We want these photos to look and feel like home. You are probably wondering now, "Why would I want to take photos here, my house is a mess?" Trust me, my most FAVORITE photos of my own family have been unplanned, unscripted, and in my home. I find that because it is your home, you will feel comfortable. We only need one room, and that is usually the room with the best light. Most people like to use their bedroom, nursery, or the living room.

3. You can include all your passions to make this session as unique as possible.

If you play guitar, we can get you rocking baby to sleep to your sweet tunes. Or maybe a big sister or brother reading their favorite book to your little one. There is no right or wrong way to do this. We can get as creative as possible again with simplicity on our minds. Think of this as another morning spending time with the family. How do you spend time together?

4. You can bring your pets.

That right bring in your fur babies, big or small. Why not get all your loves together. I love photographing dogs too. My website has a spot for those sessions too.

5. Your story matters.

Not everything is perfect. And that is ok. If you follow me, you will often hear me talk about beautiful chaos. This journey in life is just that. I want you to take about all the extra fluff and get down to the importance of these sessions, and that is you. I regret so much all these moments I erased in my camera because my house didn't look like Better Homes and Gardens, or I wasn't wearing a cute outfit. As the years go by, I wish I could go back to that young mom and say to her she was worth it, and her memories were imperfectly beautiful. So embrace your story and think about your favorite pictures from your childhood. Which ones did you love most?
